CONVEYANCING AND COVID-19: EASING BACK INTO THE PROPERTY MARKET

The Government just recently amended the coronavirus (COVID-19) regulations to allow individuals that wish to move homes to do so. This guidance also covered important public health information and provided steps to ensure that the key activities that make-up conveyancing is done safely.

Reading through the updated guidance it provides that individuals who decides to proceed with moving so can do so, so far utmost care is taken. The government advised that the simplest step of washing your hands and staying at least 2 metres apart from people who are not members of the same household is a good start.

If you do decide to proceed with sale or purchase of a property due bear in mind the possibilities of delays and other matters that may come up due to the COVID-19. Also the communication with your solicitor will be done remotely unless there is need for you both to see.

On the other hand the solicitors have the responsibility of ensuring that all devices are secure and cyber policies are put in place to protect their clients. They also have to ensure that they communicate with their clients via emails or phone calls.

Please Note that this guidance “does not represent a return to normality. The process of finding and moving into a new home will need to be different given those involved in the process will have to adapt practices and procedures to ensure that the risk of the spread of coronavirus is reduced as far as possible. This will include doing more process online, such as virtual initial viewings;vacating your current property while other people are shown around and ensuring your property is thoroughly cleaned before someone else move in.”
